Greetings, from the hard-working team of builders and staff here at Echoes of Albion! If you’re looking here, chances are that you’re strongly considering taking your first step into our fantasy world. If so, you probably have some basic questions like, “What is this game about?” or, “What can I do with my character?”
The first is a simple answer, romanticized as it is: Our game takes place in Great Britain, in a time when the wild things that lurked in the woods were powerful enough to fight against the Roman Empire’s fiercest Legions, and the mysticism that centuries of generations later would look at with awe, was still a normal part of life. Simple lives are led, still, though the introduction of enemies has begun the inevitable change that all things eventually undergo.
Celtic Britain has been the source of unusual magicks for centuries, the presence of the ancient Sidhe able to be felt all around. Tribe and family are one’s priority, and Rome his enemy. Love is deep, death is simply another door to be passed through, and honor is everything. Into this world steps the Roman Empire, with its organization, its blazing ideals and its unshakable conviction, governed by an Emperor who’s arm stretches across the known world.
This world is heavily inspired by history, both in culture and in timeline, but it is important to understand that there are differences. Rome’s victory is not yet assured, nor are things necessarily as they seem. The mythic is real, and the ‘real’ is possibly not such at all. There are differences between the peoples portrayed within the context of the game, and their real-life counterparts. While, as a team decision, we have chosen to stick closely to what research provides, some differences will be noted by those who study up extensively on the setting. We encourage you to browse our web site, forums, wiki and explore the game itself, to unravel the rich cultures detailed here: Although places like Wikipedia are filled to the brim with knowledge, brevity and playability necessitate that not all that WAS, in real life, IS, within our game.
When you feel ready, exhale the breath from your lungs.
Close your eyes, breathe deeply of the wild, primal land and dive into our fictional world.

A Reminder to All Players:
Echoes of Albion offers an intense world full of secrets. Characters conspire, Romans war with the Celts, the Fae are involved in numerous ways, and many, many things are planned and plotted on a daily basis.
As such, while other games may not require a strict division of IC from OOC, we do.
Sharing IC information in any manner that is not IC, (including through tells, channels, or even IMs) is thus prohibited. Sharing or using information ICly that you gained through OOC means is also prohibited.
Let your character live and breathe, plot, conspire, and thrive along with ours in a vibrant, ever changing world. Don’t ruin the plots for other players; keep IC information where it belongs — IC.
